Capital Member Geoff Bryce, income members Juan Anderson, Jeanmarie Calcagno, Tina Paries and of counsel Thomas Sarikas volunteered to assist The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) on election day to answer any legal questions for voters. The attorneys made themselves available to answer any pressing questions regarding polling place hours, protesters preventing voters entering polling places and more.
The NAACP works with the Election Protection Coalition to help voters in marginalized communities and help eligible voters navigate the voting process. Downey & Lenkov became involved with the NAACP through the Illinois Commission on Diversity and Human Relations (ICDHR), a longstanding organization dedicated to improving diversity and human relations across all race, cultural and gender lines.
